Fort Worth Texas
Map of Fort Worth Area

Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas and the eighteenth-largest city in the United States.

Situated in North Texas, Fort Worth covers nearly 300 square miles (780 km²) in Tarrant and Denton counties, serving as the county seat for Tarrant County. As of the 2006 U.S. Census estimate, Fort Worth had a population of 653,320. The city is the second-largest cultural and economic center of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area (commonly called the Metroplex), the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of 6 million in twelve counties. Fort Worth and the surrounding Metroplex area offer numerous business opportunities and a wide array of attractions.

When oil began to gush in West Texas, Fort Worth was at the center of the wheeling and dealing. In July 2007, advances in horizontal drilling technology made vast natural gas reserves in the Barnett Shale available directly under the city, helping many residents receive royalty checks for their mineral rights. Today the City of Fort Worth and many residents are dealing with the benefits and issues associated with the natural gas reserves under ground.

Fort Worth was the fastest growing large city in the United States from 2000-2006 and was voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities."

Fort Worth Day Picture

"Fort Worth boasts solid fundamentals, and exhibits few signs of falling victim to a credit crunch or foreclosure debacle that could destabilize the market. Still, a boom in home construction has kept the area's prices low; the market's projected turnover rate bodes well for those buying now."
- Expansion Management

"Fort Worth lies on top of a large portion of the Barnett Shale -- the country's biggest gas field: 30-trillion cubic feet of natural gas trapped 6,500 feet beneath the surface. The Barnett Shale has made Fort Worth the fastest growing urban center in the country. As of this month, the city has realized almost $19 million from royalties on 27 city-owned leases. That's just the beginning. Around 2,000 wells will be drilled just in the next 12 months. Those wells with inject billions of dollars into the Fort Worth economy. The City of Fort Worth is already looking to stretch its boundaries, encircling other communities as it grows."
